Jazz Age Saturday On The Island
Governor's Island is that enchanting little island in the middle of New York Harbor; the one you've always been curious about. Well, here's your chance to see what it's all about.
This will be a marvelous afternoon of hot jazz, dance, vintage automoblies, vintage clothing, and food. To set foot on Governor's Island is to step back into another time. 18th-Century military fortresses, naval quarters, expansive greens, and breathtaking panoramas of New York Harbor abound.
To get you off on the right foot, Roddy Caravella and Chad Fasca of Sandra Cameron Dance Studios will show you how to Charleston and Peabody; An expansive green shaded by century-old oak trees will be your speakeasy, with a 20x30 parquet dancefloor.
Vintage clothing dealers will peddle their wares, and period automobiles will clatter and sputter for your pleasure, as well.
Even getting out to the island is fun! Just hop on the ferry, and we'll usher you into the Golden Age of partying!
